League of Legends Logs Taking Too Much Space? How to Clean Them Safely

If League of Legends logs are filling your drive, first confirm that the Logs folders are actually the problem. Remove old diagnostic logs without damaging the installation

1. Exit League and Riot Client. Close both from their normal windows. If they remain open, use Task Manager to check for Riot Client and League of Legends processes. End a process only after you have left the game and any update has finished; don’t stop unrelated Riot services.



2. Keep logs needed for support. If you are investigating a crash, connection problem, or open support ticket, save the relevant recent session first. 3. Delete only old, completed-session diagnostics. In GameLogs, select dated folders from sessions you no longer need. In LeagueClient Logs and the Riot Client log folder, remove older log files rather than deleting game folders. Keep recent files if you may need to report a problem. Do not delete Config, the League game files, or the entire installation folder.



4. Review the Recycle Bin before emptying it. A normal delete usually sends files there first. Confirm that you selected only the logs you intended to remove, then empty the bin if you want that storage reclaimed immediately. Avoid Shift + Delete unless you are certain you no longer need the files.

There is no guaranteed number of gigabytes to recover. The amount depends on the actual file sizes on your PC. If a log is still in use, skip it and try again after restarting the client or Windows instead of forcing a deletion.

If the full League folder is too large, clear only Saved\webcache

When the Logs folder is small but the complete League installation is unexpectedly large, Riot’s September 2026 guidance points to a separate cache cleanup:

1. Fully exit League of Legends.
2. Open the League installation folder, usually C:\Riot Games\League of Legends.
3. Open Saved and delete the webcache folder only.
4. Leave the Saved folder, Config, and other game folders in place, then launch the client again.

This is a cache fix for installs affected by the issue Riot describes; it is not a way to disable logging. If webcache is absent or the installation remains much larger than expected, use Riot Support rather than deleting other folders at random.

Verify the result and avoid risky cleanup shortcuts

Recheck the size of the specific log folder and the available space shown in This PC. Launch League and confirm that the client opens and can patch normally. The game will continue to create diagnostic logs for later sessions, so occasional small files are expected.
