Form: Racing's home record meets Madrid's winning run

Racing have taken three wins and two draws from five home league games. They beat Espanyol 2–1 in their previous league outing, with Belocian and Zabiri scoring, and followed that with a Copa del Rey victory over Ribadesella. Their official club preview presents El Sardinero as the foundation of their challenge.

Madrid arrive after beating Barcelona at the Camp Nou. Their matchday preview reports five consecutive wins and a four-match scoring streak for Kylian Mbappé. This is the first of three successive away fixtures, with AEK Athens and Valencia next on the schedule.

The league match center lists Madrid with 24 points after ten games, compared with Racing's 11. Racing's unbeaten home record gives the hosts a stronger platform than that overall points gap alone suggests.

Team news and lineup considerations

Racing Santander

Racing confirm that Jorge Salinas is suspended after collecting his fifth league yellow card. Andrés Martín is unavailable with muscular discomfort after missing the final two training sessions. Zabiri is available and enters the match with eight league goals. Sergio Canales provides an additional storyline against his former club.

Real Madrid

Madrid's published squad list includes Thibaut Courtois, Jude Bellingham, Arda Güler, Mbappé, and Yan Diomande. Federico Valverde is absent from that list. Selection for the traveling squad confirms availability for consideration, while the starting lineup remains a separate announcement.

In his October 31 press conference, José Mourinho confirmed that Vinícius Júnior remained suspended and said Valverde would not start. Racing's preview additionally lists Ferland Mendy, Rodrygo, and Raúl Asencio as injured absentees. Confirmed starting elevens were not available in the official material checked for this preview.

The tactical questions to watch

José Alberto's prematch comments emphasize keeping Racing's identity, balancing ambition with defensive responsibility, and moving forward quickly after regaining possession. Mourinho, meanwhile, highlighted the hosts' unbeaten home start and their connection with the crowd.

Preview analysis: Racing's challenge is to carry an attacking threat without leaving space when possession changes. Sustaining pressure will matter as much as the initial break: repeated short possessions could give Madrid more opportunities to attack again. For the visitors, controlling those transitions while creating service for Mbappé is a central task. Madrid's final choice at right back and Racing's adjustments for their two absences are worth checking when the teams are announced.

El Sardinero, tickets, and the previous meeting

Racing announced that the available match tickets had sold out. Any subsequent availability should be checked through the club's official ticket channels.

Madrid's last league visit to Santander ended 0–0 in September 2011. That historical result supplies context for their return after 15 years; the current teams and their recent form provide the more useful guide to this match.

How to check lineups and the result

This preview was verified before kickoff on November 1, 2026, while the fixture was still scheduled. Use the official league match center for the starting elevens, match status, and eventual result, then cross-check decisive incidents with the clubs' reports. A prematch page or an empty score field should not be read as a final score.
