The UTC time is the official scheduled start shown on the Cricket West Indies fixture page; the Dhaka time is the corresponding local time on the match date. The start remains subject to match-day conditions and official scheduling updates. The second Test is set for November 5–9 at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium, so the teams have a short interval before the series moves to Sylhet.
Latest confirmed update: the warm-up ended in a draw
Cricket West Indies’ results page records the teams’ three-day warm-up in Dhaka as a draw on October 22. The Bangladesh Cricket Board XI made 371/7 declared, and West Indies were 336/6 when the match was drawn. That is the latest completed match in the official series listing before the first Test. It provides a recent point of reference for the teams’ preparation, but a warm-up score does not determine the Test selection, toss decision, or likely match result.
As of October 27, the first Test itself remains a future fixture. The official schedule has not yet produced a toss result, confirmed playing XIs, or a Test result. Those are match-day updates; the announced touring squads below are not the same as the eleven players each captain will nominate for the match.
World Test Championship context
This series contributes to the 2025–27 World Test Championship cycle. In an ICC preview published October 26, Bangladesh were fourth in the standings with a points percentage of 55.56. That is a dated standings snapshot, not a permanent position: the table can change as teams complete matches. Bangladesh coach Phil Simmons said the prospect of reaching the 2027 final was a motivating goal for the side. Cricket West Indies described this Bangladesh tour as the final two Test assignments of West Indies’ current WTC cycle.
The first Test therefore has competition value beyond the series scoreline. A win, draw, or loss affects the teams’ campaign records under the WTC system, while the second Test in Sylhet gives both sides another opportunity in the same series. The ICC’s October 26 preview and its live standings page are the right places to check updated context after play begins.
Announced squads and selection notes
Bangladesh’s 15-player squad: Najmul Hossain Shanto (captain), Taskin Ahmed, Jaker Ali Anik, Litton Das, Mominul Haque, Nayeem Hasan, Tanzid Hasan, Ebadot Hossain Chowdhury, Tawhid Hridoy, Shadman Islam, Shoriful Islam, Taijul Islam, Hasan Mahmud, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, and Mushfiqur Rahim. The ICC reported that Taskin returned after missing Bangladesh’s one-off Test against Afghanistan earlier in October. Litton is included in the squad after a recent hip concern; the squad announcement does not itself confirm whether he will play.
West Indies’ 15-player squad: Roston Chase (captain), Jomel Warrican (vice-captain), Joshua Bishop, John Campbell, Tagenarine Chanderpaul, Joshua Da Silva, Justin Greaves, Kavem Hodge, Amir Jangoo, Shamar Joseph, Brandon King, Keemo Paul, Kemar Roach, Jayden Seales, and Kevin Wickham. Cricket West Indies said Wickham earned his maiden Test call-up. It also said Keemo Paul was added after fast bowler Alzarri Joseph withdrew following a medical assessment and workload review; Shai Hope was rested for the series. CWI reported that opener John Campbell had demonstrated his return to fitness after a hamstring injury.
These are the published squads, not confirmed playing elevens. Under the ICC Men’s Test Match Playing Conditions effective from October 2026, each captain nominates 11 players before the toss. The toss takes place between 15 and 30 minutes before the scheduled start, and the captain who wins it chooses whether to bat or field first. Check the official match centre on the morning of October 28 for the toss, each XI, and any late team announcement.
How the five-day Test format works
The ICC playing conditions set a Test match for five scheduled days, with two innings for each side. The teams usually take turns batting and fielding, although the follow-on and declarations can change the sequence. A batting side’s innings can end when its batters are dismissed, when the captain declares, or in other circumstances set out in the playing conditions. A running score such as “Bangladesh 250/6” means Bangladesh have scored 250 runs and lost six wickets in that innings; it does not by itself indicate who is ahead or whether the match is close to a result.
Five scheduled days do not guarantee that every session will be played or that the match will last until November 1. A Test may finish earlier if one side achieves a result. If the teams complete all innings on level scores, the result is a tie; if the match is not decided by a win or tie, the playing conditions define it as a draw. Rain, ground conditions, light, and other interruptions can affect the amount of play, so readers should use the live score and official daily status rather than infer the result from the calendar window alone.
For a quick first-day check, look for the toss decision, the confirmed XIs, the innings in progress, and the fall of wickets. Later in the match, compare each team’s completed innings and any target or lead shown on the scorecard. The official match centre will provide the score and status as the game develops; the final result should be treated as confirmed only when it is posted by the tournament or cricket authority.
Where to follow the toss, score, and result
Use the official Cricket West Indies Match Centre for the first Test for the toss, confirmed playing XIs, live score, and result. Cricket West Indies also lists the fixture and its scheduled UTC start on its official fixtures page. The match centre is the direct follow link for match-day information; the current preview does not report a toss, XI, or result that has not yet been announced.
