Gamba Osaka vs. Buriram United: Match Details

Gamba Osaka welcome Buriram United to Suita on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, for an AFC Champions League Elite 2026/27 League Stage Matchday 3 fixture in the East Region. The match is scheduled to kick off at 7:00 p.m. Japan Standard Time (JST; UTC+09:00), which is 10:00 a.m. UTC. The venue is Suita City Football Stadium in Suita, Osaka Prefecture, Japan. Gamba are the home team and Buriram are the visitors.

The official J.LEAGUE match page lists the October 28 date, 19:00 kickoff, East Matchday 3 designation, and stadium. Japan does not observe daylight saving time, so JST is UTC+09:00 on the match date. The Japan Football Association’s league-stage schedule notice and the AFC’s official 2026/27 match schedule provide additional competition references.

How the Teams Arrive at Matchday 3

Gamba have made a strong start, winning both of their opening league-stage games. They began with a 4-1 home victory over Cong An Ha Noi FC, then came from behind to beat Newcastle Jets 3-1 away. Across those two matches, Gamba have scored seven goals and conceded twice. The AFC’s Matchday 1 report notes Takashi Usami’s two goals in the opening win, while the Matchday 2 report records goals by Yusei Toshida, Deniz Hummet, and Welton Felipe in the comeback.

Buriram have one point from their first two matches. They opened with a 1-1 draw against Johor Darul Ta’zim, then lost 1-0 at home to Beijing FC. Their opening draw required defensive resolve: Buriram finished with 10 players and goalkeeper Neil Etheridge saved a late penalty, according to the AFC’s Matchday 1 report. In the second round, Beijing’s Fabio Abreu scored the only goal after coming off the bench; the AFC’s Matchday 2 recap says Buriram had threatened to break the deadlock before conceding.

Key Storylines to Watch

Can Gamba keep their momentum at home?

The Osaka club has already won at Suita City Football Stadium in this competition and enters the meeting with six points from six. Its latest result also showed an ability to respond after going behind. The comeback was supported by the bench: Hummet scored soon after entering against Newcastle, and Welton Felipe added a late third. That gives Gamba more than one route to creating a decisive moment, although the confirmed starting lineup will only be available closer to kickoff.

Can Buriram turn resilience into a result?

Buriram’s away draw at Johor showed it could protect a point under pressure, but the narrow loss to Beijing left little room for error in the next round. Against Gamba, the visitors will need to manage the home side’s attacking spells while finding ways to keep possession and relieve pressure. Their ability to convert a promising spell into a goal may be especially important if Gamba score first. That is a tactical question for the match, not a prediction of the result.
