Athletic Club vs. Real Sociedad: Basque Derby Kickoff and How to Follow

Athletic Club hosts Real Sociedad on Sunday, November 1, 2026, at 9:00 p.m. in Bilbao, Spain (Central European Time, CET, UTC+01:00). The kickoff is 20:00 UTC on the same date. Their La Liga EA SPORTS Matchday 11 meeting takes place at San Mamés, where the Basque derby will give supporters another chance to follow a closely watched regional rivalry. The official Athletic Club match page and La Liga match center are reliable starting points for the latest fixture information.

Athletic Club vs. Real Sociedad: kickoff and venue

Athletic Club’s official match ticket announcement confirms the November 1 date, 9:00 p.m. CET kickoff, and Bilbao venue. The match is at Athletic’s home stadium, rather than Real Sociedad’s home ground in San Sebastián. San Mamés is known locally as “La Catedral”; its official stadium website identifies it as Athletic Club’s home.

Check the time zone before setting a reminder

Mainland Spain returned to standard time on October 25, 2026, as stated in the Spanish Official State Gazette daylight-saving calendar. That means the match uses CET (UTC+01:00), not CEST (UTC+02:00). At 9:00 p.m. on Sunday in Bilbao, the time in UTC is 20:00 on Sunday. The match does not cross a date boundary when converted between these two time standards.

For viewers outside Spain, choose the “Europe/Madrid” time zone for the November 1 event in a calendar app, or enter the verified 20:00 UTC starting point and let the app convert it. Do not use a website’s unlabeled clock reading as evidence of the time in your own country. Before making travel or viewing plans, revisit the official fixture page because the league warns that match schedules can change.

How to watch the Basque derby

Watching in Spain

Athletic Club’s October 26 broadcast announcement identifies DAZN as the platform for the match in Spain. La Liga’s official Athletic Club fixture listing also names DAZN. Check the service’s November 1 schedule and your package before kickoff: a broadcaster’s name alone does not prove that a particular subscription or device has access.

Watching in another country

Broadcast arrangements are territorial. A DAZN listing for Spain should not be presented as the answer for supporters everywhere. Start with La Liga’s official where-to-watch directory, choose your country, then confirm the fixture with the local licensed broadcaster. If the provider offers several channels or streaming plans, look for Athletic Club vs. Real Sociedad specifically. Checking the actual program listing is a better test of availability than relying only on a list of seasonal rights holders.

Following the match if live video is unavailable

There is still a useful way to track the game without claiming access to a live video stream. The La Liga match center is designed to present fixture information and the official score and match details as they become available. Athletic Club additionally points supporters toward its official app, Athletic Play, and club social channels for match coverage and alerts. Its broadcast notice mentions optional notifications for goals, kickoff, halftime and full time. These are updates and club coverage, not a guaranteed free live-video feed.

For an effective matchday setup, keep the league match page available and turn on relevant club notifications if you want alerts. If a stream is unavailable, switch to those official updates rather than opening unverified video links. If two notifications disagree about a goal or disciplinary incident, wait for the official match record to be updated before treating the report as final.

What to look for before and during play

The first meaningful check is the confirmed starting lineup. Pre-match projected teams may be useful discussion points, but they are not team selections. Compare the final elevens and substitutes on the match center with any team news released by the clubs. Do not assume that a reported injury, selection decision or formation is confirmed unless a responsible source has established it.

During the derby, use a few observable signs to assess how the match is developing: whether each side is creating clear chances instead of merely controlling possession; how they defend transitions and set pieces; and whether substitutions change the pattern of opportunities. A shot count without information about shot quality can mislead, just as the halftime score alone cannot explain the balance of play. The comparison is a way to understand the contest, not a prediction of which club will win.

If an event seems disputed, first distinguish the live alert from a final match decision. A goal can be reviewed, an apparent booking can be reassigned, and statistical totals can change as the official feed is corrected. After full time, the final score, timeline and published match statistics provide a stronger basis for judging the result than isolated social-media clips or speculative commentary.

Going to San Mamés? Confirm access details

Athletic Club’s October 27 stadium guide says the gates for this fixture open at 7:30 p.m. Bilbao CET (18:30 UTC) on November 1, ahead of the 9:00 p.m. kickoff. Arriving before the final rush provides more time for ticket checks and entry procedures. The club describes digital membership options as well as other eligible admission methods; use the instructions that apply to your ticket or pass.

Match tickets were offered through the official Athletic Club ticket announcement, but that notice does not guarantee that tickets remain available. Check the club’s authorized sales channel for current inventory, ticket restrictions and stadium entry requirements. If you are traveling to Bilbao, check local transportation updates and the relevant entrance information close to departure. Normal stadium directions alone cannot guarantee service conditions on matchday.

A reliable plan from kickoff to the final score

• Before matchday: save November 1 at 9:00 p.m. Bilbao CET (20:00 UTC) and confirm that the fixture remains scheduled.
• Before kickoff: check the official starting lineups and ensure the licensed broadcaster or match center is accessible.
• During play: follow score changes and the sequence of decisive events, while allowing for reporting delays or corrections.
• After full time: review the final official record, including goals, cards and substitutions, before drawing conclusions from the result.

The aim is straightforward: establish when and where Athletic Club vs. Real Sociedad takes place, find a legitimate way to follow it, and use verified match information to understand what happened. The scheduled fixture and confirmed broadcaster are known before kickoff; lineups, incidents and the outcome must be checked when the clubs and league publish them.
