Nashville SC vs. Philadelphia Union: Oct. 28 Kickoff, Injury Report, TV and Playoff Stakes

Updated October 28, 2026, before kickoff. Nashville SC hosts Philadelphia Union in the 2026 Major League Soccer regular season on Wednesday, October 28, at 7:30 p.m. Central Daylight Time (CDT, UTC−05:00) at GEODIS Park in Nashville, Tennessee. That is 8:30 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time (EDT, UTC−04:00) in Philadelphia and 12:30 a.m. UTC on Thursday, October 29. Apple TV is the confirmed video option, while Nashville lists 104.5 The Zone for radio coverage.

The latest roster update matters: Cavan Sullivan, previously considered questionable, is now officially listed out with an ankle injury. The MLS October 28 player status report also rules out Philadelphia's Milan Iloski (hamstring), Jesús Bueno (hamstring) and Bruno Damiani (suspension). Nashville has no unavailable players listed in that report. This article remains a pregame guide; a final score, starting lineup and any late changes cannot be reported as confirmed before the official updates.

Kickoff, venue and broadcast details

The GEODIS Park event listing, Nashville's match preview and Philadelphia's viewing guide all support the announced kickoff. The UTC date changes because the match takes place in the evening in the United States. Both cities are still observing daylight saving time on October 28, so an earlier or later season's UTC offset should not be substituted.

Confirmed player availability: who is out?

Philadelphia's original preview described Cavan Sullivan as questionable while recovering from an ankle problem. Updated official reporting has superseded that uncertainty: Sullivan is out for the Nashville game. The distinction is important for fans checking predicted lineups or availability summaries created before the latest report.

Union interim head coach Ryan Richter said Iloski's minor hamstring strain would sideline him against Nashville and in the next game against FC Cincinnati. Damiani is suspended because of accumulated yellow cards. Philadelphia's official preview says Iloski, Damiani and Sullivan have combined for 38 of the club's 62 league goals this season. Losing those options is consequential, although it does not predetermine Philadelphia's attacking performance.

Richter mentioned Ezekiel Alladoh, Malik Jakupovic and Agustín Anello as players who might receive greater attacking responsibility. That is not confirmation of who will start, nor does it verify a particular formation. Similarly, Nashville's absence-free status list should not be interpreted as a promise that all players will be selected. Official starting XIs will be decisive when the clubs publish them.

How to watch or follow the match

Apple TV: official live video

Both clubs list Apple TV for this specific fixture. The MLS 2026 how-to-watch guide states that league matches are included with an Apple TV subscription without a separately purchased MLS Season Pass. Viewers should verify their subscription, device compatibility and applicable regional terms before kickoff. This is the most direct option for assessing shots, tactical changes, substitutions and major game incidents on screen.

104.5 The Zone: Nashville's radio listing

Nashville names 104.5 The Zone as an audio option. A radio broadcast can be useful when watching a screen is impractical, but ordinary reception and online streaming availability may differ outside the station's service area. For official score and lineup updates, use the MLS match center rather than relying on an unverified social post.

Attending at GEODIS Park

Fans planning to attend should check Nashville's official single-match tickets and the stadium event page for the remaining inventory, final prices and applicable venue rules. The ticket and parking are separate arrangements. GEODIS Park lists both stadium-campus parking and off-campus PMC lots, but actual space availability can change before arrival.

Why this match matters for both clubs

Nashville has already secured the 2026 Supporters' Shield after a 2-0 victory over CF Montréal. Its pregame total stands at 70 points, with three regular-season matches remaining. The club says five more points would take it beyond the league's previous 74-point single-season benchmark. Winning against Philadelphia would add three, leaving further points still needed to surpass that record.

Philadelphia entered the fixture in sixth place in the Eastern Conference on 46 points, according to the Union preview. A win in Nashville would clinch a spot in the 2026 MLS Cup Playoffs. There are also officially listed alternatives: a Union draw combined with Red Bull New York drawing at New England; Columbus Crew losing or drawing at FC Dallas; or Red Bull New York losing at New England. These are possible clinching conditions, not results already achieved. The Union's official scenario guide explains them, and MLS standings should be checked after the concurrent games.

These differing objectives give the teams reasons to compete intensely. Nashville is chasing a points record and defending its home form despite already lifting the regular-season trophy. Philadelphia is pursuing postseason qualification while missing major attacking contributors. Neither a trophy nor an injury report guarantees a particular score.

What to watch on the field

Nashville's club preview credits it with a league-low 23 goals conceded and 15 clean sheets entering the fixture. Goalkeeper Brian Schwake accounts for 14 of those shutouts, and the hosts are unbeaten in seven straight league games. Philadelphia will need to create high-quality opportunities against an organized defense; simply sending more players forward may expose the Union to counterattacks.

Nashville also carries goalscoring threats. The preview lists Sam Surridge with 18 league goals and Hany Mukhtar with 17. Watching how these players receive passes after turnovers may be more informative than focusing exclusively on ball possession. Philadelphia's attackers face the opposite challenge: finding a productive replacement combination without Sullivan, Iloski and Damiani.

Philadelphia had assembled a 15-game unbeaten streak after the summer break before its 2-1 defeat to New England on October 24. Its turnaround offers context for the playoff push, but a strong previous run does not remove the significance of the new absences. The teams' May 2026 meeting ended 0-0. That historical score is useful background, not a forecast for October 28.

GEODIS Park gates, transportation and road closures

Nashville's official matchday guide lists stadium gates opening at 6:00 p.m. Nashville CDT (UTC−05:00) and on-campus parking lots opening at 4:30 p.m. CDT (UTC−05:00) on Wednesday. The club also directs supporters to manage tickets using its official mobile app. Allow enough time for security checks, parking and walking to the relevant entrance.

GEODIS Park's road-closure notice lists a closure on a portion of Benton Avenue beginning at 1:30 p.m. CDT on October 28, followed by additional Benton Avenue and Wedgewood Avenue access restrictions from 4:30 p.m. CDT. Check the exact affected segments and approach route instead of assuming every street around the stadium will remain open.

The club's guide lists fare-free WeGo service on regular routes 52 and 77 for MLS home matches, a designated rideshare drop-off and pickup area on Craighead Street, and free bike valet outside Gate C on Benton Avenue. These are useful alternatives to buying a parking space. Verify the service timetable and postgame journey, and do not assume that weekend-only park-and-ride services apply to this Wednesday night fixture.

When will the final result and official lineups appear?

As of this update, the announced kickoff, venue, coverage and player status report are verified. A match result, scorers and final statistics have not been confirmed ahead of kickoff. Check the official MLS statistics page and club match channels once play begins and after the final whistle. A projected lineup should not be presented as the team sheet, and an incomplete live feed should not be presented as a full-time result.

Bottom line: Nashville SC hosts Philadelphia Union at GEODIS Park at 7:30 p.m. Nashville CDT (UTC−05:00) on October 28, equivalent to 00:30 UTC on October 29. Apple TV is the official video choice, and Nashville lists 104.5 The Zone on radio. Philadelphia's updated absences include Sullivan, Iloski, Bueno and Damiani. The final score remains to be decided on the field.
