What Is Capital Gold in Clash of Clans?
Capital Gold is the currency used to restore and upgrade buildings in your Clan Capital. You earn it through your own Raid Weekend attacks or by producing it in the Forge, then contribute it toward projects that benefit the whole clan. It does not upgrade your Home Village, and it is separate from Raid Medals. In 2026, it also has a use after a clan finishes every Capital upgrade: the Capital Treasury.
What Capital Gold does
Clash of Clans runs the Clan Capital as a cooperative area alongside your Home Village and Builder Base. Capital Gold is the resource you spend there: members use it to build up Ruins, contribute to building upgrades, and improve the Capital’s districts. When enough Capital Gold has been contributed to a project, that building levels up.
Your balance is yours to contribute, but the upgrade itself belongs to the clan. Contributions earn you Capital Reputation, and your profile tracks how much Capital Gold you have put into the Capital. If you leave the clan, you cannot reclaim gold already contributed; Supercell says you keep your Reputation and contribution record. Access to the Clan Capital requires Town Hall 6 and a clan at XP level 2 or higher.
Think of it as a separate economy. Home Village Gold and Elixir are used for your own village, while Capital Gold supports the shared clan base. The Forge can convert eligible Home Village and Builder Base resources into Capital Gold, but Capital Gold is not a replacement wallet for those resources.
How to earn Capital Gold in 2026
Earn it by destroying buildings in Raid Weekends
Raid Weekend attacks are the main active way to collect Capital Gold. You receive gold for buildings you destroy in enemy districts, and larger buildings and defenses generally award more. Damage carries over between clanmates’ attacks, so one player can weaken a district and another can finish it.
Each player starts with five attacks for the Raid Weekend. Destroying a district gives the player who lands the final blow one bonus attack, up to one bonus attack per weekend. If you are the attacker who clears the district, surviving troops also add a Capital Gold bonus based on their housing space. That includes troops left in camp as well as troops deployed and still alive; unused spells do not count.
Use attacks thoughtfully if you are close to clearing a district: keeping more troops alive can increase the finishing bonus, and the extra attack for a district clear can help your clan continue through the raid. Produce it in the Forge
The Forge is the other reliable source. It unlocks at Town Hall 6, and its first slot produces free Capital Gold every 24 hours. The Forge has five total crafting slots that unlock at Town Hall levels 6, 9, 11, 12, and 14. At higher levels, you can assign a Builder to convert eligible resources into more Capital Gold. Home Village Gold and Elixir conversions start at Town Hall 9, Builder Base Gold and Elixir at Builder Hall 8, and Dark Elixir at Town Hall 13.
A Builder remains occupied for the full duration of a resource conversion. Builder Potions shorten Forge crafting time, and the Gold Pass Builder Boost can reduce crafting time and resource requirements. How to spend Capital Gold
Open the Clan Capital and use the Builder Menu to find eligible projects and see where clanmates have already contributed. Capital Gold can restore Ruins into buildings and defenses, then help upgrade buildings in each district. Upgrading the Capital Hall at Capital Peak unlocks additional districts; raising a District Hall allows more upgrades in that district. Building certain barracks, spell factories, and army structures also unlocks or improves Capital troops and spells.
Any clan member can contribute to available buildings. Clan leaders and co-leaders can mark projects to guide priorities, while the Builder Menu helps members avoid overlooking ongoing contributions. The upgrade happens once contributions reach the required amount. You do not assign a Home Village Builder to complete the Capital upgrade; Builders are needed for Forge conversions instead. Capital Gold vs. Raid Medals and Home Village Gold

Clearing a district or an entire enemy Capital can add Raid Medal rewards for participating players; it does not turn those medals into Capital Gold. What happens when the Clan Capital is maxed?
The June 2026 update added the Capital Treasury. Once the entire Clan Capital is fully maxed, a Treasury button replaces the normal upgrade button on the Capital Hall. A member can contribute their remaining Capital Gold balance to the clan’s shared Treasury total and earn Capital Reputation for the contribution. When Supercell adds new Clan Capital content, the Treasury empties and the cycle starts again. This gives leftover Capital Gold a purpose while the clan waits for new upgrades.
Supercell announced this feature in its June 2026 update notes. The Treasury is for a fully maxed Capital; before then, spend your balance on available Ruins and upgrades your clan wants to complete.
Frequently asked questions
Can I use Capital Gold in my Home Village?
No. Capital Gold is only for Clan Capital contributions and, after the Capital is fully maxed, contributions to its Treasury. The Forge converts some Home Village and Builder Base resources into Capital Gold, but the conversion does not work in reverse.
Is Capital Gold the same as Raid Medals?
No. Capital Gold is spent on Clan Capital projects. Raid Medals are personal rewards from Raid Weekends that you can spend through the Trader. They are earned and distributed differently.
Can opponents steal my Capital Gold?
Raid attacks award Capital Gold to the player attacking an enemy district; they do not take the defending clan’s personal balance. Supercell also says you keep Capital Gold you earned from your attacks if you leave the clan. Capital Gold already contributed to a building stays invested in that clan’s Capital.
In short: earn Capital Gold in Raid Weekend attacks or the Forge, then contribute it to the Capital buildings your clan wants to develop. Keep Raid Medals and Home Village Gold separate in your mind, and use the Capital Treasury if your clan has already completed every available upgrade.
