PS5 Console Sharing and Offline Play lets other profiles on one designated PS5 play games and media purchased and downloaded by the account that enabled the feature. It also allows that PS5 to launch eligible downloaded games while offline and shares select PlayStation Plus benefits. Enable it from the game owner’s account, download the titles you want before losing internet access, and use separate profiles for everyone who plays.
The setting makes one PS5 the shared console for a PlayStation account. Other people who use that same console can play the owner’s purchased and downloaded games and media, including when the PS5 is offline. The owner can still use their account on another PS5, but only one PS5 at a time can have Console Sharing and Offline Play enabled for that account. This is a console feature; it does not share a library with someone using a different PS5.
On the first PS5 you sign in to with your PlayStation account, the setting is enabled automatically. If you are setting up a different console, check it manually. Sony’s current instructions do not list a general 30-day check-in requirement for an enabled sharing console. Individual games may still require an internet connection, and online features naturally need a connection.

Games and benefits are shared with other accounts that use the enabled console, within the limits of each game, subscription, and account’s parental controls. The account that bought or claimed the content remains the owner.

These distinctions matter: PS5 game sharing does not give every profile a separate Plus membership, cloud storage, or ownership of a shared title. Check Sony’s PlayStation Plus benefit-sharing rules for the full list.
To check that it works, return to the home screen and launch a downloaded game while signed in to another user profile on the same console. If you previously enabled sharing on another PS5, disable it there before enabling the new console. The setting can be active on one PS5 per account at a time; PS4 primary-console activation is a separate limit.
Give each person a separate local user profile and, when needed, their own PlayStation account. Keep the purchasing account’s password private. While signed in as the owner, download the purchased games you want available on the shared console. Then switch to another profile and launch an installed game from the home screen. Users may need to follow age restrictions and parental controls set on their accounts.
Sharing works for accounts using the enabled PS5. It is not a way to lend the same digital library to a friend on a separate console. If a game belongs to a different account, that account must enable Console Sharing and Offline Play on the PS5 where the other users want to play it.
Offline play works only for content that is installed and supports offline use. Online-only games, live-service modes, cloud streaming, and multiplayer sessions cannot be made offline by changing this setting. Cloud saves also cannot sync until the console reconnects, so consider your save-data needs before a trip or outage. A disc game still needs its disc in the drive.
On the PS5 enabled for the account, sign in as the owner and open Settings > Users and Accounts > Other > Console Sharing and Offline Play, then choose Disable. Other profiles on that console will lose access to the owner’s shared games and eligible Plus benefits, though the owner can still access their own purchases when signed in and online as required.
If you no longer have the old console, use Account Management to deactivate all devices attached to the account, then enable sharing on the PS5 you want to use. Sony limits remote deactivation of all devices to once every six months, and it is not a tool for selecting just one missing console.
