How to Check Real-Time Server Latency in the PUBG HUD
Enable PUBG’s network statistics HUD to monitor ping and packet loss in a match. See where to find it, what the numbers mean, and what they cannot diagnose.
The message “EA AntiCheat failed to initialize” usually means the anti-cheat service could not start, could not locate the game installation, or detected software that conflicts with its security checks. On PC, EA SPORTS FC uses EA Javelin anticheat. Start with a restart and a game-file repair; reinstall Javelin only if the basic checks do not work.
This guide covers the Windows PC version of EA SPORTS FC. EA Javelin requires Windows 10 version 20H1 (build 10.0.19041) or later. Console versions do not use the PC anti-cheat installer, and this procedure does not apply to EA SPORTS FC Online or the mobile game. EA’s support instructions were checked on October 7, 2026; the exact message and available options can differ by game release and storefront.
| Try this | When it helps |
|---|---|
| Exit FC and restart Windows | A temporary service or startup problem |
| Repair or verify the game files | Missing, changed, or damaged game files |
| Reinstall EA Javelin anticheat | The service is missing, damaged, or cannot find the FC installation |
| Update or close the named conflicting program or driver | The error identifies incompatible software or a driver |
| Use the error-specific steps | The message includes a code such as #41, #701, or #119 |
Close EA SPORTS FC and the EA app. If you launched the game through Steam or Epic Games Store, exit that client too. Restart Windows, open the storefront you normally use, and try again. A full restart clears a stuck anti-cheat service and completes pending Windows or game updates.
Check that Windows is on a supported release. EA says Javelin anticheat requires Windows 10 20H1 (10.0.19041) or newer. Install available Windows updates and restart before troubleshooting further. If you use a Windows Insider Preview build, see the Error #41 section below.
Use the repair option in the client that manages your game. In the EA app, open Library, select the three-dot menu on the FC game tile, and choose Repair. Wait for the check to finish, then launch the game again. EA recommends repairing game files when a game will not load; this can restore a missing or altered anti-cheat component without reinstalling the whole game.
If Steam or Epic Games Store manages your installation, use its built-in option to verify or repair the installed game files. The wording varies by client and version. Do not delete folders from the EA, Steam, or Epic installation directory by hand: removing the wrong file can turn a launch issue into a full reinstall.
For EA’s current instructions, see EA’s guide to repairing games that will not load in the EA app.
If a repair does not help, reinstall the anti-cheat with EA’s installer. EA recommends reinstalling when its service cannot find the game installation or when the service reports an invalid system configuration.
C:\Program Files\EA\AC.EAAntiCheat.Installer.exe.Use the installer’s per-game option. Uninstall All removes Javelin protection for every EA game on the PC, so it is unnecessary when only FC is affected. If the installer is missing or the folder is unavailable, download the current installer from EA’s official Javelin anticheat troubleshooting page, then select the installed game and choose Install.
If the message says the service cannot find the installation folder or start the game, EA’s recommended workaround is to run the EA app as an administrator—even if you bought FC through Steam or Epic Games Store—and then start the game directly from the EA app.
Use this as a focused troubleshooting step. Avoid changing permissions across the entire game drive or permanently setting every launcher to run with elevated privileges. If administrator launch fixes the problem, check that the launcher and game are installed in their expected folders and that your Windows account can access those folders.
Javelin can block specific programs or drivers that EA considers incompatible. Read the full message and note the exact software or driver name. Update that program from its manufacturer, restart Windows, and test FC again. If EA still identifies it as incompatible, close or disable that named software while playing, following the manufacturer’s instructions. Do not remove an unfamiliar driver or security product based on a guess.
Cheat tools, debuggers, and some system utilities can conflict with anti-cheat. EA also notes that certain VPN or proxy software can interfere with Javelin. Close these only as a diagnostic test when relevant to the error. Do not turn off Windows Security or your antivirus wholesale; if a security product quarantined an EA file, review its protection history and use the vendor’s guidance or EA support rather than restoring an item you cannot verify.
| Message or code | Useful next action |
|---|---|
| Installer Error #41 | EA says this can affect Windows 11 Insider Preview builds missing a renewed Insider certificate. Install the latest available Insider Preview update, restart, and try FC again. |
| Installer Error #701 | EA associates this sequence—anti-cheat could not start, followed by #701 on the next installer run—with a Windows file-system transaction-log issue. Follow EA’s instructions for the Windows drive: open Command Prompt as administrator and run fsutil resource setautoreset true C:\, replacing C:\ if Windows is installed on another drive. Restart before running the installer again. |
| Incompatible driver, Error #119 | Update the software associated with the driver name and restart. If EA continues to block it, disable or remove that specific software using its manufacturer’s instructions. |
| “Service has encountered an error” | Restart first. If it says the service cannot locate the installation folder or launch the game, run the EA app as administrator and launch FC from there, then reinstall Javelin if needed. |
| “Unacceptable configuration,” Error #95 | Close cheat-related or tampering tools. EA also identifies some VPN and proxy software as a possible cause; test with those disconnected if the message applies. |
Run the #701 command only when that code and sequence match your issue. It changes a Windows file-system setting, so do not use it as a general-purpose fix for an unspecified initialization error.
If the error persists, record the exact wording, any number or driver name, your Windows version, and whether you own FC through the EA app, Steam, or Epic Games Store. Include those details when contacting EA Help. The general phrase “failed to initialize” does not identify one universal cause, so the exact message is more useful than repeating broad fixes.
