Ginger Island is a late-game region in Stardew Valley with a year-round farm, a ten-level Volcano Dungeon, new characters and quests, and 130 collectible Golden Walnuts. To reach it, finish either the Community Center or Joja Community Development Form, then repair Willy’s boat with 200 Hardwood, 5 Iridium Bars, and 5 Battery Packs. How to unlock Ginger Island
- Complete the Community Center bundles or the Joja Warehouse development projects.
- After the completion cutscene, read Willy’s invitation and visit the back room of the Fish Shop on the beach.
- Repair the boat by supplying 200 Hardwood for the hull, 5 Iridium Bars for the anchor, and 5 Battery Packs for the ticket stand. You can contribute materials in separate visits.
- After Willy and Robin finish the overnight repair cutscene, buy a boat ticket in the back room. The round trip costs 1,000g. You can leave the island from the boat on its south beach.

Explore the island in a useful order
At first, most routes are blocked. Follow Leo into the eastern jungle, collect easy walnuts as you explore, and interact with the parrot in his hut. Golden Walnuts: what to find and what to unlock
There are exactly 130 Golden Walnuts. They are both collectibles and the parrots’ currency. Find them by digging at unusual ground patterns, checking bushes and hidden paths, solving environmental puzzles, fishing, mining mussel nodes, harvesting certain farm crops, opening Volcano Dungeon containers, defeating monsters, and completing the Island Field Office collections and surveys. The parrot in Leo’s hut provides changing hints for most remaining walnuts. Journal Scraps give clues to specific discoveries, so read them before digging at a marked spot. The Walnut Room opens after you find 100 walnuts, while finding all 130 is a separate completion goal for Perfection. Each walnut is useful, so explore before spending freely. Make the most of the Island Farm
The farm on Ginger Island works like a greenhouse: the mainland season does not restrict what you plant. Pineapples, taro, bananas, and other crops can grow there year-round, and sprinklers work. Crows do not appear, so scarecrows are unnecessary. Crops still need water, however; the farm does not automatically water them overnight.
Repair the Island Farmhouse for 20 Golden Walnuts if you want to sleep there, keep a shipping bin nearby, or make longer trips without returning to the Valley. The farmhouse includes a kitchen and beds for the players on the save. Completing its repair also unlocks the Gourmand Frog cave: grow the requested crops—melon, then wheat, then garlic—and show each mature crop before harvesting it to earn 5 walnuts per crop.
Reach the Volcano Forge
The Volcano Dungeon has ten floors, and the Forge is at the summit. Bring a watering can: pouring water on the entrance lava creates a temporary path, which disappears overnight. Inside, find doorways to progress; the dungeon does not use ladders like the Mines. Take food and a strong weapon, and leave room for Cinder Shards, Dragon Teeth, and other resources.

Leo lives in the eastern jungle. He loves Mangoes, Duck Feathers, Ostrich Eggs, Parrot Eggs, and Poi. At six hearts of friendship, he moves to a treehouse in the Mountain area and begins visiting the island on a schedule. Giving his hut’s parrot walnuts also opens routes and provides walnut hints.
Professor Snail runs the Island Field Office in the north. Free him from the cave near the Dig Site, then donate fossils and answer the island surveys for Golden Walnuts.
