You can stream Xbox gameplay to Discord directly from an Xbox One or Xbox Series X|S. Link your Xbox and Discord accounts, join a Discord voice channel from the Xbox Guide, then select Stream your game. You do not need a PC, capture card, or separate Discord app on the console. The stream carries the game’s video and audio; Discord voice chat runs alongside it in the call.
The steps below follow Discord’s current Xbox connection instructions. Menu labels can shift slightly with console updates, but the stream is started from the Discord call controls under Parties & chats.
A Discord Nitro subscription is optional. Nitro allows higher stream quality controls, up to 1080p. Discord currently lists up to 60 frames per second on Series X|S and up to 30 frames per second on Xbox One for Nitro streams. The 60-fps option is not available on Xbox One.
Connect the accounts once before starting your first Xbox gameplay stream. You can do this from Discord on desktop, browser, or mobile:
You can also start from the console: press the Xbox button, then go to Profile & system > Settings > Account > Linked social accounts. Choose Discord and follow the prompts to link it. If your accounts were linked a long time ago and Discord features do not appear, Discord says some older connections may need to be linked again.
If you do not see the server or channel, check that the right Discord account is linked and that you have access to the server. Discord is integrated into the Xbox Guide; it is not a standalone Xbox app.
To stop, open the same Discord call menu on Xbox and select Stop streaming. You can stay in the voice channel after ending the broadcast.
Xbox’s integration sends the audio and video of the game you are playing. It does not stream other Xbox apps or console services. If you switch to another app or close the game, Discord pauses the stream; you remain in the voice channel and can still be heard there. If you are in Xbox Party Chat, note that Discord says you cannot stay in Party Chat while using Discord voice on Xbox or streaming from the console.
Friends watching from an Xbox can open the active call’s member list in the Xbox Guide, select the profile of the person streaming, and choose Watch Stream. Other viewers can watch through Discord on their supported device.
