1. Check Rockstar and platform service status

Open the Rockstar Games Service Status page and look at the GTA Online and authentication entries for your platform. Also check the relevant PlayStation Network status or Xbox status page. A green status is useful, but it does not rule out a brief regional issue or a connection problem between your ISP and Rockstar.

If a service is listed as down or under maintenance, avoid reinstalling the game or changing DNS settings. Give the service time to recover, then restart GTA Online. Rockstar notes that this unavailable-services message can come from either a service outage or a problem with your network.

2. Restart the game, device, and router

1. Close GTA Online completely. On PC, also exit the Rockstar Games Launcher and the store you use to launch the game.
2. Restart your PC or console from its normal power menu, then open the game again.

On a console, run its built-in network test and note the NAT type. A strict NAT can limit connections to other players. On Xbox Series X|S, the NAT type appears under Settings > General > Network settings; on PS5, use Settings > Network > Connection Status and test the connection. If your router has UPnP or parental-control settings, consult its manual or your ISP before changing them.
