MLB Games This Week, Oct. 19–25, 2026: ALCS and World Series Races
The 2026 regular season is over, but the MLB games this week put two postseason races at decisive points. The Tampa Bay Rays lead the Cleveland Guardians, 3–2, in the American League Championship Series (ALCS), while the Milwaukee Brewers have already claimed the National League pennant. From Monday, Oct. 19, through Sunday, Oct. 25, the schedule brings a possible ALCS clincher, a potential Game 7 and the opening two games of the World Series.
That is the week’s central storyline: Cleveland and Tampa Bay are still competing for the last place in the Fall Classic, then Milwaukee’s opponent will arrive at American Family Field. There are no remaining regular-season division or Wild Card races. The remaining “playoff races” are the fight for the American League title and then the World Series championship.
A packed ballpark glows at dusk as players take the field.
MLB games this week: key dates and venue times
MLB’s postseason schedule lists the U.S. games in Eastern Time. The table converts each start to the time zone at the venue and includes UTC for readers elsewhere. St. Petersburg is on Eastern Daylight Time (EDT, UTC−04:00), and Milwaukee is on Central Daylight Time (CDT, UTC−05:00) during this week; the United States remains on daylight time until November 2026, according to NIST’s 2026 daylight-saving schedule.

Guardians vs. Rays: the ALCS can end in St. Petersburg
Tampa Bay took a 3–2 series lead with a 3–1 win over Cleveland in Game 5 on Sunday, Oct. 18. The Rays now need one more victory to clinch the American League pennant. Cleveland has to win on Monday to extend the series, then win again in Tuesday’s deciding game to advance. Both remaining games are scheduled at Tropicana Field, giving the Rays the chance to close at home.
Game 6 is the most consequential single matchup on the schedule because it can settle the AL side before the World Series begins. A Tampa Bay win would complete a run from a 2–2 tie to a 4–2 series win. A Guardians victory would keep both clubs alive and make Game 7 a winner-take-all contest. For Cleveland, the task is especially direct: there is no margin for another loss.
The clubs traded wins through the first four games before Tampa Bay won back-to-back Games 4 and 5. That makes the first innings, bullpen availability and late-inning defense worth watching, but those details can change with the confirmed lineup and pitching plan. MLB’s Game 6 preview and matchup notes provide the latest official information, while the Gameday links above track each individual game.
Brewers vs. an undecided opponent: the World Series opens Friday
Milwaukee is the first team through. The Brewers swept the Dodgers in the NLCS, finishing the series 4–0 on Thursday, Oct. 15. Their opponent will be whichever club survives the Guardians–Rays series. Until the ALCS is decided, a matchup-specific World Series preview would be premature; the official bracket lists Tampa Bay or Cleveland as the American League representative.
Games 1 and 2 are set for consecutive nights at American Family Field. The opener gives the Brewers a home crowd for the start of the best-of-seven championship series, and Game 2 offers a quick chance for either club to establish an early advantage before the series moves on. For the visiting American League champion, the first two games also mean beginning the title round on the road after a demanding ALCS.
Although MLB publishes the World Series starts as 8:00 p.m. Eastern Time, Milwaukee’s local clock is one hour behind in October. That is why both games begin at 7:00 p.m. CDT in Milwaukee, with their UTC timestamps falling just after midnight on the next date. This distinction matters for international viewers building a watch calendar: Game 1 is Friday evening at the venue but Saturday in UTC, and Game 2 is Saturday evening locally but Sunday in UTC.
What to follow, and where to check the broadcast
For a compact watch plan, start with Monday’s ALCS Game 6, keep Tuesday open in case Cleveland forces a decider, then return for the World Series openers on Friday and Saturday. That sequence will determine the final American League entrant and then begin the championship series, all within the supplied Oct. 19–25 week.
MLB lists TBS, truTV, HBO Max and UniMas for the ALCS, and FOX, FOX One and FOX Deportes for the World Series in its U.S. broadcast schedule. Those rights and streaming options are market-specific, so viewers outside the United States should check the broadcaster serving their country.
